Achievements of Students in Sports


It is humbly informed that on 07.02.2023, the District-Level Swimming Competitions for the Chief Minister’s Trophy were held at the Sports Development Authority of Namakkal in five categories, i.e.  200m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke, 200m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medal. More than ten colleges participated in the event. Among these colleges, our college student, Mr. E. Jayasuriya of I B.Com., achieved various prizes, such as the gold medal and the cash prize of Rs. 300 in 200m Butterfly category, the silver medal and the cash prize of Rs. 2000 in 200m Backstroke category, the bronze medal and the cash prize of Rs. 1000 in 200m Individual medal category. Along with him, Mr. A. Kaviyarasu of I B. Com bagged prizes like the silver medal and the cash prize of Rs. 2000 in 200m Breaststroke category and the bronze medal and the cash prize of Rs. 1000 in 200m Butterfly category.

Achievements and Activities of Students in Various Events

  • The Namakkal District Youth Festival Competition was held on 13.10.2022, at PGP College of Arts and Science in Namakkal by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India’s Nehru Yuva Kendra. In the following competitions, our college students won several awards and brought honours to our campus:
  • Ms. A. Sri Dharani of I B.Com won the first prize of Rs. 5000 in English Elocution competition
  • Mr. S. Ragul of II BBA won the second of prize of Rs. 2000 in English Elocution competition
  • Ms. S. Shobika of II BBA and Ms. K. Dharshini of I B.Com won the first prize of Rs. 1500 in English Debate competition
  • Mr. S. Prakashraj of II B. Com won the second prize of Rs. 750 in Photography event
  • The students Mr. M. Sujay Sudharsan of II BBA, Mr. A. Aswinkumar of II B.Com, Mr. J. Gulbheer of I B.Sc. CS, Mr. V. Kousik of I BCA, Mr. V. Maanas, Mr. G. Sanjay, Mr. M. Mothishkumar, Mr. S. Poovarasan of I B. Com, and Mr. G. Yuvaraj, Mr. M. Gopinath of I BBA took home the second prize of Rs. 2500 in the cultural dance event.

Salem Smart City Rotary Group conducted District – Level Personality Training on 28.01.2023 and 29.01.2023 in Kariyamangalam Dharmapuri District. Our college students, Mr. S. Abinesh II B.Sc. CS, Mr. S. Ragul II BBA, Mr. B. Mohanraj II B. Com, and Mr. G. Velmurugan II BCA, participated and benefitted from this training programme.

It is informed that on 28.02.2023, nine students and one professor from our college participated in the Science Day celebrations held at Periyar University, Salem. It is also humbling to note that this Science Day celebration witnessed the re-invention of existing inventions and the ideas that need to be improved upon.

  • On 05.07.2023, at Muthayammal Memorial College of Arts and Science in Rasipuram, Namakkal District, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, through Nehru Yuva Kendra, conducted the Namakkal District Youth Festival Competition. Four Nehru Yuvakendra teams and nearly six college teams took part in the competition. In the following notable events, our college students won numerous awards and brought honours to our campus:  
  • Ms. M. Rasika of III B. Sc. CS won the first prize of Rs. 1000 in Photography event
  • Ms. S. Shobika of III BBA won the second prize of Rs. 2000 in English Elocution event
  • Ms. T.A. Bowsiya of II BBA won the second prize of Rs. 750 in drawing competition
  • Ms. V. Udhayareka of II BCA won the third prize of Rs. 500 in drawing competition
  • In the cultural dance competition, our college II BBA students Mr. M. Gopinath, Mr. R. Sakthivel, Mr.S. Prasanna, Mr. G. Yuvaraj, Mr. R. Vineeth, Mr. R. Vasanthakumar, Mr. K. Yuvaraj and II BCA student Mr. S. Naveenkumar won the second prize of Rs. 2500

The Department of Food Safety and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, in collaboration with Sri Sakthi Kailash College for Women, Salem, sponsored a skit competition on 17.08. 2023. There were about fourteen teams from different universities and schools who took part. The first prize was won by our college students who competed in the same event. The students listed below participated in the skit competition and took home the first prize: Ms. V.R. Indhumathi II BCA; Ms. T.A. Bowsiya II BBA; Ms. S. Subhadharshini II BBA; Ms. P. Srija I B. Com.; Ms. S. Jenifer I BBA; Ms. V. Nandhini I BBA; Ms. S. Pooja I BBA; and Ms. K. Varsha I BBA. They were also honoured with appreciation certificates.

On behalf of Salem Periyar University Periyar Chair, Perarignar Anna chair, Muthamizharignar Tamizhvel Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi Research Centre, Periyar University, Salem organized the centenary celebration of Vaikom struggle by Periyar from 21.08.2023 to 25.08.2023. Various competitions were held as a part of this celebration. Our college II B. Com student, Ms. K. Nisha, participated in the speech completion on the topic ‘The Role of Periyar in Vaikom Struggle’ and bagged first prize in the event. She received her prize and certificates on 29.02.2024 at Periyar University, Salem.

A rally for drug abolition and cell phone avoidance while two-wheeler rides was organized by JCI DIVINE Tiruchengode on 11.09.2023. Students from other schools and colleges actively participated in the rally as did our college’s JCI students and faculties.

Seven students from our college participated in the Namakkal District Youth Literature Workshop, which was held at Sengundar College of Arts and Science, Tiruchengode, on 19.09. 2023. The workshop was hosted by the Department of Tamil Development, Government of Tamil Nadu.

On 04.10.2023, our college I. B.Sc. CS student, Mr. M. Sanjay Bharathi, presented his research paper on ‘Cyber Security’ at the national – level technical symposium organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna College of Engineering, Coimbatore.

On 10.10.2023, a wall magazine and poster-making competition for students in the 18–21 age range was held at our college premises in accordance with the directives of the District Election Officer / District Collector, Namakkal, with the aim of raising awareness among budding voters.

In response to a request from Government Siddha Hospital, Tiruchengode, on 11.10. 2023, our college’s students completed their fieldwork by planting medicinal plants on behalf of Arulmigu Ardhanareeswarar College of Arts and Science NSS (Unit I), Tiruchengode, on the grounds of Government Siddha Hospital.

On 20.10. 2023, a prize distribution ceremony was held at our college premises in honour of Kalaignar’s centenary. Mr. E. R. Eswaran, honourable MLA of Tiruchengode, Mr. Madhura Senthil, Mrs. Nalini Suresh, Mr. M. Ramanikandan, Secretary / Assistant Commissioner, and the Trustees of Arulmigu Arthanareeswarar Temple, Tiruchengode, presented prizes to the students who won a variety of competitions, including elocution, poetry, essay, painting, and sports.

In order to raise awareness about voting among new voters in the 18 to 21 year old age range, a wall magazine poster creation competition was held on the college campus on 10.11.2023, as per the directives of the Namakkal District Election Officer / Namakkal District Collector. In the competition, the following students won the prizes.

  • Mr. S. Muthaiyan won the first prize of Rs. 500
  • Mr. K.P. Selvakumar won the second prize of Rs. 200
  • Mr. P. Yogesh won the third prize of Rs. 200

From 01.12. 2023 to 02.12.2023, A.M. Jain College in Chennai hosted the State Level Youth Festival Competition, which was organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India through Nehru Yuva Kendra. Teams from Nehru Yuva Kendra and several colleges in Tamil Nadu took part in this competition. Mr. S. Ragul of III BBA, Ms. S. Rasika of III B.Sc. CS, and Ms. S. Ramela of I B. Com, our college students, enthusiastically engaged in the events of Poetry Writing, Drawing Competition, and Photography, respectively.

The Government of Tamil Nadu, on behalf of Namakkal District Administration, Department of School Education, and Public Libraries, informed the colleges through a circular from the office of the Joint Director of Collegiate Education that the book exhibition will be held from 26.01.2024 to 02.02.2024 at Namakkal South Government Boys Higher Secondary School. Various competitions were held for the students during this book fair. On 31.01.2024, a Mime Competition was held, and around 13 teams participated. Our college team bagged second place in the Mime event and received prizes and appreciation certificates from our former Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Government, Dr. V. Irainbu IAS. The following students participated in the Mime event: Ms. P. Nisha, Ms. K. Amutha, Ms. E.Devamithra, Ms. A. Isha, Ms. C. Gayathri, Ms. V. Prema, and Ms. T. Kavitha of II B.Sc. Computer Science.

The KSR Educational Institutions in Tiruchengode hosted an intercollegiate meet called “Rang Utsav” on February 15 and 16, 2024, where our college students competed in a variety of events pertaining to the advancement of their academic careers, artistic endeavours, and cultural heritage.

The Arasu College of Arts and Science in Karur hosted an international conference on February 16, 2024. Ms. Sri Krupasini and Ms. Nithyasree, two of our college students from II B. Com., placed fourth in their paper presentation.  Ms. Gunasree, Ms. Nisha, Ms. Shalini, and Ms. Ramya, the II B. Com. students, took part and gave presentations of their research papers.

On 16.02.2024, Our college student, Mr. Varun Raghav of I B. Com, attended and presented his research paper at the International Seminar organized by Kongu Engineering College, Erode.

A One-Day National Seminar was organised by PGP College of Arts and Science, Namakkal on March 19, 2024. Mr. Ajay, Mr. Hariharar, Mr. Kalaiyarasan, Mr. Karthick, Mr. Meikanda Moorthi, Mr. Natheen, Mr. Manikandan, Mr. Pradeepraj, Mr. Sarveshkumar, Mr. Varun Ragav, Mr. Sivakumar, Mr.Tamilarasan, Mr. Kalaiselvan, Mr. Vigneshwaran, Mr. Vithunkumar, Ms. Naveena, Ms. Sabitha, Ms. Srija of I B. Com. and Ms. Ramya and Ms. Nisha of II B. Com. were actively involved and benefited.

On behalf of National Service Scheme India, ‘National Integration Camp’ was held at Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, from 05.03.2024 to 13.05.2024. Representative NSS Programme officers and NSS Volunteers from all the universities in India participated in the camp. Our college professor, Dr. R. Mohan of BBA department, attended the camp on behalf of Periyar University representative of NSS Programme officer, and along with him, seven students from various affiliated colleges of Periyar University, Salem, also attended the camp. Our college student, Mr. M. Sanjay Bharathi, was one of the NSS Volunteers who attended the camp.
